The Tango originated in the Antilles, but it was the "Gauchos" of Argentina who gave it the style that we know today. It became a dance of true romance and passion in 1921 when the celebrated Rudolf Valentino introduced it to millions of people in the film "Les 4 Cavaliers de L'Apocalypse". Today, many consider the Tango their favorite dance.

The music of the Tango is generally written the the timing of 2/4 or 4/4. The main rhythm used to teach the Tango is slow, slow, fast, fast, slow.
Characteristics:
The posture of the Tango is more compact than the other modern dances. the steps of the Tango differ than the steps of the other dances, because it utilizes movements that are more staccato, which one obtains by slowing the movements which bring the feet back together (Follow through).
